Home Sweet Home

Looking for something fun this weekend? Maybe you need to make plans with your mom for mother's day? I thought this sounded like fun.

The Washington Park Home Tour is this Saturday, May 10 from 10 AM - 4 PM and is a benefit for Steele Elementary School. It is your chance to get an inside glance at 5 unique homes in the Wash Park Neighborhood.

I'm this is a chance to get inspired to do some home makeovers, and little day dreaming.

Weekend Warrior

This weekend I tried to pack as much in as possible.

Friday the office closed at 3 and we all went to Via to enjoy some food and drink. Love the bread pudding there! Fab! Then I headed home and Jason and I went and tried a new restaurant that opened up right by my house, The Dusty Boot. I just had a side house salad since I had eaten a heavy share of happy hour foods at Via. We then rented Juno and I must say I thought it was a very clever movie and I really enjoyed it.

Saturday started early with lots of errands, including picking up paint at Home Depot for my bathroom. We stopped by my parents house for lunch and then as soon as we walked back into my door I started in on painting. I took a quick break to drop Jason off at the light rail so he could watch the Avs beat the Wild at Pepsi Center. The bathroom turned out great, with a new paint color, new shower curtain, new towels (which I can't find online to show a picture of - but they were from Cost Plus World Market - love that place) and a few new accessories. Love the way it turned out - just makes me want to freshen the rest of the house up. After the painting ended I watched No Reservations, which was cute, but nothing earth-moving.

Sunday work up and hit the grocery store, and then watched the movie Waitress, which again was cute but not earth-moving. Then Jason and I headed to his parents house for his birthday dinner and enjoyed the beautiful weather while BBQing.

All in all it was a great weekend!

DIY - Book Case

As you have read, I had been on the hunt for the perfect paper to line my book case and I found it over the weekend. I worked really hard on sanding, painting and covering the bookcase and last night I finally finished it!

Here is basically what it looked like before:
And now the after:

It turned out exactly like I hoped it would. A few things to note about the next shelf I re-do:
  1. Sand, and sand some more. A couple spots didn't want to cover as easily.
  2. I should have used primer.
  3. The paper has a few errors as I didn't line up the pattern right, but I doubt anyone will notice.
  4. With 4 layers of paint, the shelf doesn't slide back in very easily!!!! Had to do some touch-ups after.

Finally Friday

Made it through a big presentation at work on social media and now just ready for the weekend.

Going snowboarding tomorrow as long as the weather decides to hold, and I can drag myself out of bed. Then hoping to get some home improvement projects started. I'm wanting to paint my bookcases white so that they both match and line the back panels with some pretty wallpaper/contact paper/wrapping paper (whatever is the cheapest and cutest).

Next week should be exciting, we have two new gals starting at work, and then next Saturday we are going to ten20 for the Spring Spa Party in honor of Christy's birthday.

I really need to get back to my scrapbooking - the photos are just starting to pile up.

Add a little Spring to your step

The weather here is starting to warm up. I know that the snowiest month of March is still on the horizon, but you can tell that change is already in the wind. The sun feels a little warmer, the days are becoming a little longer.

With a couple vacations coming up I know where the money is going and where my thoughts are, but I can't fight the urge to do a little spring cleaning and mini-home-makeovers. Since Kristin moved out the spare room is just sitting empty, calling me to take care of it and put some belongings back in there. I bought a way cute lamp at Target, for only $11.50:I can't wait to hang it in the room. Now if I can just decide on some other decorating elements and purchase some new furniture I will be set.

I have been drawing some inspiration from a couple of websites/blogs:
