Music for the Soul

Jen included a blip on her blog about the fab Amy Seeley and I. Can't. Get. Enough. Love her. Thanks Jen!

Quiet Fridays

I love the Fridays I have to work, as much as I love the Fridays I have off. The office is so peaceful when I'm one of the few here typing away.

Sorry for the lack of posts this week...

Update from last weekend - hung low, very low. Got the car washed, ran errands, and slept colds off.

This week I've attacked by another bug, and have been coughing something fierce. This weekend is busy, so I hope I start feeling better ASAP.

Baby shower and birthday party tomorrow, followed by a concert. Sunday errands, and wedding invite addressing. Monday starts a short week for me, as I'm off to have a weekend of friends, family, food and fun with my bridal shower, dinners, shows, and everything else lined up for the rest of the week.

Allow me to introduce

you to a my new love:

I have named him Su V. As he is a Subaru purchased on the most lovely Valentine's Day.

It was a great 3-day weekend. Saturday of course involved a full day of car shopping, and a quick dinner of some pasta. Sunday we took a drive in Su V up to Red Rocks and used our new camera that we had gotten for Christmas. Monday hit up some sales with my mom. All in all a great weekend, although I feel a little cold coming on.

Have another 3-day weekend coming up, Yeah for every other Friday off!

Men at Work

Every morning that I catch the 6:26 train from my house to make it to my stop by 7 AM, I pass a construction spot for a new building being built here downtown. At this time, about 6:50 in the morning a group of men are just starting their shift (at least I think starting, guess they could be ending). They stand in a circle with a man in the middle leading them through a series of stretches. Most mornings I pass they are mid-pose of the same series of poses I see each morning. There in their hard hats, orange vests, middle aged men bend to their toes, or hold their hands high above their heads. All in a group, same pose. There is something about this I admire. Not because they are men, not because they have a day of manual labor ahead, but because their company leadership cares enough about them to start the day with a moment of time to that benefits the employee not the bottom line. That is the kind of company I want to stretch for.

Sweet Weekend

Monday morning - you and I have such a complex relationship. I welcome you with open arms as you are the start of a fresh week, but how I dread when you when the alarm sounds.

Friday, my CWW day off, we headed to Hammond's Candy factory for the tour and for some sampling.

It was a nice tour, short, but sweet.

Started to do a little car shopping. Hoping that soon I can get me one of these. Going to hit up some more dealerships this coming weekend and see what happens. Please keep your fingers crossed that the numbers work in my favor - poor little car I have now is ready to retire before it is dead.

Saturday headed to the folks house for dinner and chats about lengthy wedding lists, and all other life topics.

Sunday Jason and I registered at Crate and Barrel. More for personal benefit of the completion discount. Not sure if we are going to really let the masses know we are registered there. If our parents feel really inspired they may shop for us there. Anyway, loved the registry even they had there. Free food and drinks, and great little gift to boot.

Valentine's Day this coming weekend. Jason and I are hoping to have dinner out on Friday, and then on Saturday itself just cook up a fab meal at home. Looking forward to another 3-day weekend this weekend with President's Day!

Oh Weekend, How Short You Are

How do the hours pass so quickly when I'm off?

Friday night, hit up Uptown Tavern for some Happy Hour action. Saturday, Kristin came over and we worked on wedding invites. Those bad boys are almost ready to get dropped in the mail once that day arrives. Then Saturday evening, Jason and I headed to Hickory House for the early-bird special... haha, yes, we joined the elders for some good BBQ, cheap. Then of course on Sunday we had Super Bowl plans. I cooked my very first Coconut Cream Pie with my new KitchenAid. Loved it. Watched the game, grubbed on the dip we made, and then crashed early in attempts to be rested for this week.
