The Sun is Rising on a Monday

It is a short week here at work, followed by a 4-day weekend with fun, laughter and celebration ahead. I'm looking forward to spending some time with some of my favorite ladies in a city where you can leave your heart.

This past weekend was a classic Leslie weekend. Friday night we cooked some dinner, hit up Costco (my fav place to shop), stopped at Walmart and watched the Rockies game. Saturday (as you saw from the previous post) was spent fixing the kitchen facet. I'm still loving it the quick upgrade. Saturday we went out to dinner at Brewery Bar II and then I watched 17 again. I do admit I watch those tween movies sometimes. Jason stayed in the guest bedroom watching more baseball. Sunday morning work up and did the typical grocery store trip followed by cleaning the bathrooms and starting laundry. Then I sat down and watched Confessions of a Shopaholic. Once I laughed a little and enjoyed some crazy fashions I ventured to my parents house as Jason headed to his fantasty football draft. I scrapbooked a little with mom, chatted with my dad and ate some delish fish and chips.

Back to Monday.

Everything plus the kitchen sink

Today we finally made a much needed repair to the kitchen - we replaced the facet. I guess by saying "we" I should really be saying Jason

It looks about 100 times better and it doesn't leak under the sink, or shoot water out of the back of the facet neck.

So glad to have that done!

Another Look Back

So it's been nearly 9 months since I made all these goals for 2009 - time to check in... seems when I check in then I get my butt in gear to start checking things off the list.

- Scrapbook (dare I say weekly?) - hmm... not weekly, but did get to it a few times. Hoping to spend a little more time with my crafts this fall.
- Love - more in love today than yesterday
- Paint my bedroom - DONE
- Plan my happily ever after - DONE
- Paint my master bathroom - decided this wasn't needed after a good cleaning and switching of bathroom accessories
- Give more of myself - this can't really be a completed goal, but I'm surely trying
- Purge, purge and purge some more - keep it simple, organized, neat, and clean - DONE - can say we put our best effort forward - 2 garage sales and a lot of Craigslist selling. Hoping to do more cleaning this fall to donate clothes and sell any last items worth posting.
- Smile more - better get on this
- Journal, again - maybe need to dust off the journals again, but I have been posting more and started a new photo blog (www.lovewhatyoulive.com)
- Breath deeply - trying
- Get a new car - wasn't I supposed to do that this year - DONE
- Relax more, really let my mind slow down - making steady progress here.
- Travel out of the country at least twice - one down, one to go
- Hug more - trying...
- Hook up the TV in the second bedroom - DONE
- Sleep in, and be ok with it, that is what weekends are for - the new bed is making that easier
- Eat at the dining room table more - DONE - got a new dining room table and I eat there at least twice a week.

Either Love It or Hate It

In my blog reading I often come across new product reviews and thought I would share some of my own insight.

Cleaning toilets is one of my least favorite chores. I decided I would try Scrubbing Bubbles new Toilet Cleaning Gel to see if it would help me in quest to always have clean toilets. The package tells you to clean your toilets first, ok I did that. Then you stamp on the gel. The wand is pretty spiffy as you just squeeze out this flower of cleaning gel that sticks to your bowl. The product claims to last up to seven days as it continuously cleans and freshens with every flush. Let me just say it is FRESH. The smell for me was overpowering and every time I was in the bathroom I was gagging from the powerful scent. It has lasted a full seven days stuck to the bowl, but be warned people will see your flower gel stamp on the bowl. But, overall I don't feel that the product has done anything to help keep the bowl cleaner. The toilet looks like it needs to be washed again this weekend.

Basically I wouldn't recommend this product for keeping the toilet clean, but maybe for being a very powerful air freshner if you can stand the scent.

Oh Wonderful Weekends

Another Monday under the belt. Sorry for the slightly delayed weekend recap post.

Friday I started it off running a few errands and finally getting a library card for the library by the house. I also started using the Holga camera, although I haven't finished the roll of film yet to see what the photos look like. We went to Outback for dinner and tried their new $9.95 specials. Great deal and to top it off we had a BOGO coupon that came in the mail.

Saturday we drove out to the farms to get some veggies for dinner and some raw peanuts so I could I make boiled peanuts. We got some corn on the cob and that is where I took my daily photo. After that we visited a few model homes and just enjoyed dreaming about when we can finally purchase one home after selling two homes. I fell in love with the wallpaper in one of the bathrooms (which of course you can't see in this photo):

And you know I'm a sucker for wainscoting as it is currently in my house. I just loved this idea of using it along the top of the wall instead of the standard chair-rail heighth pieces. File this idea away:

Saturday night I finally got all our leftover wedding items (cake plates, wine glasses, centerpieces, etc) posted on Craigslist which lead over to Sunday where I met a person to sell my birdcage. Easy money back in our pockets which we will be using for our weekend in Vail this fall.

Sunday afternoon just spent napping and then finished up our wedding photo selections for our DVD slideshow.

Today was just another manic Monday...

Quiet Morning Darkness

Left the house around 5 this morning to get in early and tackle a few work projects while it was quiet morning darkness here.

Looking forward to a 3-day weekend, tomorrow off. Hoping to head out to the farms this weekend and get some fresh veggies.

Have the crock pot going today cooking pulled pork for some BBQ tonight.

San Fransisco trip is right around the corner, really looking forward to that as well.

Really all is well here, quiet, but busy.

It was a Doozy

This weekend, as they all are, was completely busy. Friday night Jason and I spent three hours prepping for the garage sale. We hauled boxes, cleaned closets and labeled like we were manic. Went to bed late after all the work, only to wake up early on Saturday to drag stuff to the curb. We hung signs and we sold some stuff. It wasn't as successful as the first round of garage sales, but hey, we will take what we made all the way to the bank.

Saturday afternoon my parents had Jason's parents and us over for supper. Enjoyed the best beer can chicken and enjoyed the company. After dinner, Jason and I headed to see 500 Days of Summer at the Landmark Theatre. Love it there - free popcorn and soda with the price of the ticket.

Sunday I let Jason sleep in, that is what wife's do after forcing their love to wake up early the day before. While he slept I hit up the grocery store. Later we put the roof rack on my car, headed to the car wash, grabbed lunch at Bernie's (which we were trying for the first time and L.o.v.e.d.) Then we went to AWF, for like the forty-eighth time in two weeks, to purchase our NEW mattress. It was love. We hauled that thing home on top of the car, with the newly installed roof rack. Lugged it up the stairs and discovered it was nearly 2 feet higher than the last mattress. The dog couldn't even jump on the bed, and Jason had to have a running start. So, Jason took apart the bed frame so we could drop the mattress down. Then we slept in bliss.

This morning I had to drag my butt out of bed to come to work. The mattress is lonely today I just know it. I think I better go home and keep it company. I'm sure it is scared in a new place with no one around.

Pre-Screening Adam

Last night Jason and I had prescreening tickets to see the movie Adam. It had me crying literally five minutes in, and I just.loved.every.minute. of the movie. I laughed throughout the movie too, don't get me wrong. It was just so well done and very moving. I highly recommend that if you are looking for a movie that you go see Adam. Even Jason loved the movie, and he is generally a drama-filled movie lover.

In this heartfelt romantic comedy, Hugh Dancy stars as Adam, a handsome but intriguing young man who has all his life led a sheltered existence - until he meets his new neighbor, Beth...

Celebrate 26 years

Happy Birthday to me...

I can't believe how wonderful my birthday weekend has been. Let's rewind to Thursday, when I was showered with such kindness by my friends and coworkers. I work with the most fabulous people. For lunch we enjoyed a great pizza meal.

Friday was another "all about me day." I got the hubs off to work, and then began my day with a little shopping, followed by the best pedicure I have had in a long time. I enjoyed a free lunch at Spicy Pickle (note to all readers: make sure to sign up for everyone's emails, you get great birthday bonus coupons). Then I had a haircut and I must say I'm loving the new look. Lots of volume to my super straight hair. After that I headed to the mall and did some more shopping with all the coupons I had, got a free Vera Bradley wristlet (birthday coupon), got some new perfume at Victoria's Secret (birthday coupon), it was just a great little free spree. For dinner Jason and I enjoyed Red Robin (free birthday burger). We tried to go see 500 days of Summer, but the movie was sold out, maybe next weekend.

Yesterday we woke up early and got our memberships all squared away at Colorado Athletic Club. Can't wait to start working out there this week. Then we went to America Furniture and to Oak Express to get our new dining room table and chairs. We can now comfortably seat 6 for a dinner party at our house. We met my parents for dinner at Bonefish Grill and I loved our meal.

Today was another adventure. We drove up to Allenspark to go horseback riding. It was so fun, it was just Jas and I on our tour. Afterward we headed back to Boulder for lunch.
My view for the ride:
Jason looking all country:
It was just such a wonderful weekend full of love and celebration.

T-minus 5 days...

This past weekend flew by. Friday night we dog-sat Molly dog while my parents played it up on a mini-vacation. Saturday Jas and I ran errands and then headed to his parents for a family BBQ celebrating all the July birthdays. Sunday of course, guess, grocery shopping!! Then I painted the trim in my bedroom, cooked dinner with Jas and ended the evening with hitting golf balls at the driving range.

I'm really looking forward to a birthday celebration starting Thursday with lunch at work, and ending with horseback riding on Sunday and lunch in Boulder.
