Yes Please, a Route 44 if I May...

My new summer love:
The Sonic lemon-berry real fruit slush. Oh my goodness, I have found summer love in a cup. I crave it night and day and I really can't think of another way to celebrate the warm sunny days than with this cool beverage.

Maybe I'll be making a stop tonight!

Sad Car

Last week got in a minor fender bender in the new SuV... sad day. At least no one was hurt. The other's guy car was just fine and little SuV's bummer was just banged up:Anyway, little car is getting fixed next Monday, so all should be good in no time. I'm actually really surprised at how quick the whole process has been. And I must say that I have State Farm, but this guy has Farmer's and Farmer's has been so pleasent to work with. There claims agents have been really great to work with. If anyone is looking for a new insurance company may I give you a recommendation...

Another 3-day Weekend

Oh how I love these 3 day weekends.
Friday we ventured up to Golden to go on the Coors Brewery tour. I have never been there and we enjoyed the free activity. I would say that the New Belguim was better overall - but that is also because they give you more free stuff (like coasters and post cards).
Saturday we ran a few errands and then I cooked up a storm. We took a couple meals down to our dear friends Kristin and Eric in Castle Rock, as they welcomed their first baby this past week. Little Landon Joseph. Too cute! We only stayed a moment before we headed to dinner. Oh, and we squeezed in about 30 mins in at the pool.
Today Jason had volleyball games, and I headed to my parents house for some BBQ. I lazed around, soaked up some sun in their backyard and just enjoyed in the day. Came home, cleaned house and cooked up some dinner. Now just sitting back and enjoying some TV. I must admit after hearing everyone talking about it I finally saw my first episode of MTV's 16 and preggers - yep, don't get it... strange show.

FAIL

Ok so this weekend I didn't take a single picture, and didn't use the Holga. {Bummer}

Friday Jason and I hit up the driving range for 50 cent bucket of ball day. Saturday I baked a key lime pie that turned out so good that Jason ate 2 slices which is HUGE because the boy doesn't like treats like that. I won big ($5) at the horse track with my family, and dined at Ted's Montana Grill (Montana - YES - I'll be there in a few short weeks). Sunday I ran about 100 errands and then met up with Jason's family for another celebration of Father's Day.

Speak of Father's Day:
Loves to my dad!

Short and simple weekend. Looking forward to only 4 days of work this week.

Forty-Hours...

The weekend will start soon, and then I have 2 days of happiness awaiting.

I'm trying to find that balance in my life of accomplishing everything I want to do, and doing it so that I still have down time. Somehow it doesn't go exactly as I plan.

This weekend will be weekend of celebrating the father's in my life. Saturday we are heading to the horse track with my pops and stuffing our faces with food and then Sunday Jason will play golf in the morning with his pops and I'll meet them all for dinner when they are done.

Hoping to get a little scrapbooking in, as well as finish painting the master bedroom. Tonight is supposed to be 50 cent bucket of ball night at the driving range so I think Jas and I will head to there to hit some golf balls after we enjoyed some BBQ chicken and corn on the cob for dinner.

As I posted early this week, I'm really hoping to get out with the Holga camera, as well as the Nikon and get some good shots of everyday life in this weekend.

Here's hoping that everyone else enjoy's their 48-hours of weekend!

News Received Via Email

Sometimes I am taken back at how far technology has moved us as humans. How connected, yet unconnected we are. I work in this vast industry of the internet and somehow it never ceases to amaze at it is shifting the way we function day in and day out.

Anyway, long story for a short funny story. Yesterday at work around 11 AM I get an email from my mother-in-law with both Jason and I included that reads:

Hi: Dad sawed the tip of his little finger on his left hand off yesterday. OUCH!! He says it hurts, but not too bad. He’s on an antibiotic because he nicked the bone. He took his shirt off, wrapped his finger in it, and drove himself to the emergency room from Judy’s house!

What??? I went into panic, how come no one called, how come I didn't know, on and on. Now today I can laugh about it and find the email humorous, but yesterday I was worried. Now I suppose I think of email as the way I'm sure people thought about the phone. In another era when people could only write letters to be delivered weeks later by pony, train, boat, etc that is the only way they would hear things, then came the phone were in an instance you could be connected with someone to give them the latest news, and today we have email.

I Live For Weekends

Maybe I recap every weekend detail as I attempt to relive it, making the upcoming weekend seem not the distant.

I really do enjoyed compressed work weeks when my 3-day weekend finally rolls around, otherwise I debate everyday going back to a normal schedule.

As for this weekend, of course jammed packed with goodness.

Friday - one of the blessings of Jason not currently being employed (anyone need an experienced marketing professional?) would be that we get to spend the day together doing whatever our hearts desire. We started out pretty early running massive errands - still had a few returns to make from the wedding, as well as I was looking for some new shoes for a weddding we will be going to in a few weeks. We made stops at: Crate & Barrel (yay for gift cards), Hobby Lobby, Victoria's Secret and Steinmart before we were spent and headed for lunch. We tried a newer place in town called Tocabe - if you are near the Highlands {GO}! It was a great little place serving Fry Bread tacos - loves it! After lunch we stopped at AAA to get some information on Yellowstone, then stopped at Barnes & Nobel for more Yellowstone goods and then lastly hit Target for some new sandles, picked up pictures at Walmart and selected the perfect gnome for my mother's garden from the local garden store. After a decent nap at home, we BBQ up some dinner and basically relaxed.

Saturday we celebrated my wonderful mother's birthday a few days early by venturing to the Paris Flea Market at the Ballpark market. I think I like the Aspen Grove one a little better, but this was still very fun. I got a beautiful flower pendendant and a pearl necklace. After we headed to Racines for lunch - I very much enjoyed their wedge salad. Back at their house we opened presents, enjoyed some carrot cake, and sat in the sun enjoying the day. Rented He's Just Not That Into You and actually I thought it was pretty good.

Sunday of course grocery store, followed by picking out the paint for the bedroom and bathroom. I painted about half a wall in the bedroom and will finish it up tonight and tomorrow night. It should look pretty nice when it is done. Finally wrapped up the day at the Bed, Bath & Beyond registry completion event were Jason and I won a brand new Calphalone pot and pan set. Not sure what will do with another new pot and pan set - but heck yeah for winning door prizes!

Bake to our Programming

So back to the wedding recapping - you know just as soon as I finish with all these snapshots I'll have actual professional photographs to share, hope no one is sick of these yet!

The morning of the wedding I got a call at 8 asking if I wanted to move the wedding indoors, as it was cool and very foggy up on the on the mountain. In a calm stressful manner I said let me get up there and decide what will happen. We drove to the venue and the fog rolling on the hills made everything just that much more wonderful.

We prepped in the bridal room, enjoying a few drinks, cheese and fruit before professional photos started.Of course I had to have a fresh mouth - brushing my teeth.

Getting my something blue on.

Feeling a little itchy

So it's been nearly 6 months since I made all these goals for 2009 - time to check in...
- Scrapbook (dare I say weekly?) - hmm... haven't scrapbooked once...
- Love - this can't really be a completed goal, but I'm surely trying
- Paint my bedroom - well I picked out the color, hoping to start this weekend
- Plan my happily ever after - done and done, wedding is checked off
- Paint my master bathroom - again, well I picked out the color, hoping to start this weekend
- Give more of myself - this can't really be a completed goal, but I'm surely trying
- Purge, purge and purge some more - keep it simple, organized, neat, and clean - well one garage sale down, hopefully another this summer
- Smile more - better get on this
- Journal, again - working on it, been trying to stay on this one
- Breath deeply - oh yeah, forgot about this
- Get a new car - wasn't I supposed to do that this year - DONE
- Relax more, really let my mind slow down - eekkk... have a lot of trouble with this
- Travel out of the country at least twice - one down, one to go
- Hug more - again, eeekkk... have a lot of trouble with this (for those who don't know, I'm not a big hugger - surprise)
- Hook up the TV in the second bedroom - DONE, thanks to Jason - I had forgot that this was a goal
- Sleep in, and be ok with it, that is what weekends are for - oh, maybe this weekend I'll try that out
- Eat at the dining room table more - started off strong and now... well, hopefully we will get a new dining room table soon and I'll actually like sitting at it

A Break in this Presentation

So a quick break from wedding recaps...

This weekend:
Friday, of course involved Costco (what weekend doesn't anymore) and we got some new Mexican popsicles, they are actually very tasty with the Coconut one being my favorite.

Saturday woke up early and hit up Target to complete our registry there. Got everything left that we still needed. Had BBQ chicken lunch with my parents and then went to La Piazza, Larimer Square’s Italian street-painting festival. I actually wasn't completely won over by this event, but it was still a nice day. For dinner we tried GB Fish and Chips. The fish was the best I have had, but the chips - I recommend they get a new french fry or make their own fresh cut ones. Either way, we will probably be going back to this joint.

Sunday we watched Ratatouille, I went grocery shopping, and then I met my mom for a pedicure and to pick out a new cell phone to replace my dead beast of a phone. We ate a fab dinner of homemade black bean soup that was to-die-for! And then headed to see my new BFF Eric Hutchinson at the Bluebird, thanks to a friend for the tickets. It was a great show, and I think I heart that musical man cause he is so lively and makes happy music.

Back to Monday - although only a 4 day week for me!

Thinking of doing the luxury home tour this coming weekend as well as headed to Bed, Bath and Beyond to complete our registry there. Never a dull moment here.

Getting Ready

The morning of the wedding started REALLY early - like 5 AM early. I woke up, thankfully on time because I couldn't sleep and somehow my alarm clock was not set for the correct time. I got about 4 hours of sleep that night, but was able to fully function on nerves, coffee and love that day. Kristin picked me and the flowers up at 6 AM, and we headed for the hair studio. My hair run through was not how I had hoped, but the day of hair far exceeded my expectations.

My mom, Allison and Becca were meeting at us the hair place at 7:30, and what did they forget, the veil! Have no fear, my dad and cousin Karen came to the rescue!

Here I am getting all ready (without makeup or coffee at this point)
My mom and I getting ready
Kristin and I with our hair all done up and looking fab
One last call to my love
Last second makeup touches before we were off to the venue

Next Up

Following the fab BBQ dinner of ribs, mashed taters, beans, and more food than I can remember, the ladies headed back to my house to work on the flowers. Let's just say this one I don't recommend doing - yes, we saved tons of money, but the drama over flowers dying in the heat of the day and dying from being played with too much was just a little more stress than I needed that night. I couldn't have done it though without Karen's help re-tying the men's flowers with the correct green ribbon, and Kristin's help in staying to clean up the mess that night (gotta love my MOH) and of course my mother who helped calm me down when I started to go nuts, and then Allison and Becca for putting up with my nonsense of being a bride who wants to DIY.

Pretty and Pampered

Friday before the wedding we got our nails done, enjoyed lunch with Kristin, picked up the flowers, drove up the mountain for the rehearsal and to decorate a little beforehand, and then headed to dinner at the BBQ joint. All in all it was a super busy prep day, but so fun.
